Party: The Tuesday Club: Bodhi, Woz, KStewart, Simba

THE TUESDAY CLUB
TUESDAY 8TH DECEMBER
11PM – 3AM

Bodhi
Woz
KStewart
Simba

For our penultimate show before the Xmas break, TTC are pleased to welcome back Bodhi after a successful year of releases and festival performances. Joining them we have one of Black Butter Records most consistent producers, Woz. And to round it off, we have TTC resident Simba joining us from the big smoke.

------ BODHI ------

Bodhi are a young duo hailing from Cardiff who have been making waves in the UK house scene over the past few years with their fresh take on the genre. Mixmag, who are big fans of the boys, have described their music as "laden with sweet grooves, armed with serious bass and dripping with soul". Having released on labels such as Black Butter, Grizzly and Future Classic, they've also been snapped up for remixes for the likes of The XX and London Grammar.

After stepping in to replace The Magician at TTC earlier in the year, and doing a steller job, we had to have them back for their own headline show!

------ WOZ ------

Another member of the Black Butter family, Woz, still in his 20s, has been both a guiding light and honourary son of the Bristol electronic music scene. He only saw beatmaking as a creative career when he was eighteen, starting with the nascent drum n bass and then dubstep circles in Bristol. A couple of years later and London had embraced him as one of their own, legendary heads like DJ EZ and Marcus Nasty giving him props and airtime alongside newer authorities like Toddla T and Roska.

It was after he started getting a lot of heat for his remix of Rudimental’s “Feel The Love” remix with Childish Gambino, however – appearing in Rolling Stone and building a name for himself stateside – that people thought his status might shift, too far gone for the underground credentials. Thankfully this hasn’t been the case; Woz’s foray into Detroit house with his track “Cherry Hill” showed that he could take on a classic US sound and still give it that dark, menacing UK edge that so excites his fan base over here. It was also the track that saw Woz step up his national radio plays significantly as well as on the underground – Klose One, Oneman, Skream in the club and Huw Stephens and Danny Howard on BBC Radio 1, as well as major sets at Space Ibiza, Secret Garden Party, Bestival and Glastonbury.

We’ve been keeping an eye on this guy for a while and now we finally welcome him to Sheffield for his TTC debut!

------ K STEWART ------

If you’re a fan of dance-floor savvy pop, chances are you would have come across the voice of KStewart in the past few months.

At just 20 years old, KStewart (real name Kate) has made a name for herself as a sought after featured vocalist and fast rising artist in her own right. She appeared on Oliver Helden’s #5 UK single ‘Last Night (Koala)’ and Manchester DJ and producer TCTS gospel flavored house track ‘Games’. All the while, she cut her teeth as the tour vocalist for Bondax and worked with electronic producer Karma Kid on her own solo tracks 'Tell Me About That', 'Speechless' and 'Close Enough' which garnered hundreds of thousands of plays online and whet appetites across the blogosphere.

Her first official single, 'Keeping You Up', released on her very own Cherry Jam Records imprint, is produced by Shift K3y, whose mystery-filled dance track 'Touch' topped the charts at #3 last year. 'Keeping You Up' touches on Shift K3y's trade-mark nod to the Nineties, moving through squelchy bass lines at glacial pace, with KStewart's vocal mixing Christina's muscle and Whitney's reach. It’s 3 minutes 41 seconds of dance-floor dynamite, or in her own words, 'proper old-skool pop music’.

Having already been hailed by i-D Magazine as this generation's answer to Mariah Carey, Kate started singing at the age of two, and by the age of ten, was confident enough to know that it would be her career. Taking inspiration from the greats: Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé and Whitney ("All the big divas, pretty much”, she says), at just 20 years old, she considers herself to be as strong-willed as the best of them. "I have always known what I wanted, so I don't take any shit, basically."

Already counting fans including Diplo and Skrillex, who both invited her to recording sessions in LA after coming across her music, as well as a circle of close friends and kindred artist spirits including MNEK and Ella Eyre, ‘Keeping You Up’ sees KStewart well and truly on her way.
