Party: The Persuasion Celebrates - The Ellington is 9 and BK's 40th!

Hi friends!

What an amazing 9 year run it’s been for us here at the Ellington! We’ve achieved some significant accomplishments and experienced incredibly moving events in this time and I would like to take this opportunity to express gratitude to you all for supporting the Club, Graham and myself.

Graham and I opened the doors to The Ellington in March 2009, days after I had turned 31 – my family helped me celebrate with a cake, shared on an off cut piece of timber strung across 2 saw horses as the club was still very much a dust filled work site, 4 days away from opening. 9 years on the music is still playing, the drinks are still flowing and the memory of Graham continues to build on his legacy with every note played and every glass raised.

This year as I turn 40, I feel very privileged to share the stage with a group of amazing artists that I am also fortunate enough to know as friends. I’d love nothing more than for everyone involved with the club and my life over the past 40 years to help me celebrate one of my proudest accomplishments.

I’ll be joined by Perth’s Jazz Fusion powerhouse The Persuasion and berate my other very talented friends from stage until they relent and sing for me and you because quite frankly, we all deserve the best – right?

It’s shaping up to be an amazing weekend of music – The Persuasion and I will be followed by the incredibly heroic RnB Funk spectacular that is BlackTop for the Late Set (Friday and Saturday) then some of Graham’s musical brethren will be taking the stage on Saturday for the main set, playing music written for and by Graham.

I don’t plan on turning 40 again anytime soon - the anti aging supplements I take are getting prohibitively expensive – so let’s get loud this weekend!

One love,

BK
