We are now well into the closed season and it’s time to start thinking about the work that needs doing over the summer. This will ensure our club is in tip top condition for the new season.
First off we have RugbyForce weekend on 27th/28th June where we will be tackling a big project as well as carrying out lots of smaller tasks around the ground, from 9.30am each day.
This year our RugbyForce project is refurbishment of the men’s toilets in the main clubhouse. We have funding to completely revamp these and bring this part of the clubhouse up to a standard that compares with the rest of the clubhouse facilities. As always, there are many other jobs that need doing around the ground.
As an added bonus and incentive the Playing and Coaching team are delighted to announce that on the Saturday we have secured the services of Mark Wood who has agreed to come along and talk to the players about his experiences. Mark is an experienced Polar Explorer, Speaker and Educator who will use his experience to facilitate a meeting with the players to discuss and agree their Team values for the forthcoming season.
Mark will also perform a presentation of his expedition experiences between 13:00 to 14:00 and all members of the working party are welcome to down tools for an hour and listen in. It will be a unique opportunity to listen to a man who has been to both poles solo. Please find links to his web site and his up and coming expedition.
All day breakfast provided at lunch time and on Saturday there will be a BBQ from 17:00 hours and the chance of a few beers.
A lot of the work in the clubhouse toilets will involve demolition of the existing kit. Therefore, could I ask anyone coming down to the club to bring the following tools if possible;
Cold chisel
Lump hammer
Crowbar
Hope to see you all over the weekend.
