As part of the Liverpool Irish Festival, we're delighted to announce that The Whistlin' Donkeys will be playing live.
Here's a recent review:
This Tyrone-based folk/trad/rock supergroup made a huge impression this time last year with their uncannily faithful rendition of The Pogues' immortal 'Fairytale of New York'. This time around, they tackle another homegrown classic and one of Horslips' best known numbers from their 1970s heyday, Impeccably performed by the 6-piece and their front-man, Fergal McAloon, they bring a new energy and freshness to the tune, while remaining true to the original arrangement. What makes this more than just a standard cover version, however, is the fact that Horslips legend Johnny Fean himself guests on lead guitar, adding his distinctively familiar sytle and tone to the proceedings.
