THE MAL EASTICK BAND
Mal Eastick first emerged in Australia’s national touring live music scene as the integral lead guitarist and co-songwriter in the mid-1970s’ award-winning country rock band Stars, originating from Adelaide. After four years on the road and four albums, two of which reached Gold Record status, Stars’ last NSW gig was as part of the infamous 1979 Concert Of The Decade in front of 160,000 fans outside the Sydney Opera House.
Mal then spent three years as the sole guitarist with ex-Dingoes front man Broderick Smith’s Big Combo, releasing one self-titled album, which also earned Gold Record status.
Moving to Sydney in 1983, Mal toured with Max Merritt & Glen Shorrock before joining Jimmy Barnes for two years as his first lead guitarist in Jimmy’s solo career post Cold Chisel, scoring Platinum Record status on the Bodyswerve and Working Class Man albums.
In 1986, Mal formed and led his own blues-rock outfit The Mal Eastick Band, producing two highly acclaimed original albums and still touring to this day. Mal is an endorsee of Fender electric guitars and amplifiers, and Australian-made Cole Clark acoustic guitars.
