Mosborough Music Festival 2015 line up, in no particular order
THE SELECTER
We at Mosborough are delighted to have The Selecter play at our 2015 festival. Hailing from that great two-tone city of Coventry, The Selecter were formed in 1979, they headlined the 2013 Tramlines inner city festival in Sheffield. The Selecter join our ever impressive list of bands that have graced the Mosborough stage. Led by the charismatic ‘rude-girl’ lead singer, Pauline Black, The Selecter get the crowd moving with SKA/Two-tone classics. With a string of top 20 hits like ‘Too much pressure’, ‘On my Radio’, Three minute hero’ and ‘Missing Words’ they are sure to go down well with our brilliant festival goers that is for sure.
CHRIS HELME (The Seahorses)
After two attempts we have finally signed one of the UK’s finest artists, Chris Helme is a Yorkshire lad by the grace of god, Chris is most famously known as the voice and songwriter behind the hugely successful band ‘The Seahorses’. Whose line up included John Squires (The Stone Roses), The Seahorses banged out four top twenty hits which included ‘Love is the Law’ which reached number 3. Their classic album ‘Do It Yourself’ reached number 2 in the UK charts and should be in every great music lover’s collection. Please note this is a full band and not an acoustic set, expect to sing along to ‘Love me and leave me’, Blinded by the Sun’, You can talk to me’, and ‘Love is the Law’.
JUNGLE LION
Jungle Lion put together a SKA based set that has everyone singing and dancing along. Their infectious tunes are sure to go down really well with the Mosborough crowd. This 12 piece band are brilliant to watch, the 6 horn section and 5 sets of vocals add to the vibe and get the SKA lovers shuffling their feet to a rock steady beat, after a brilliant storming set at last year’s festival we simply had to ask them back for another go, get your dancing shoes/welly’s on………
MISSING ANDY
Missing Andy are without doubt one of Britain’s most under-rated bands. Recently voted the UK’s best unsigned band. These British mod influenced Essex lads know how to turn a tune and performance out. All five of the band are good friends and were formed in 2008. This is the second time we have had them play at Mosborough due to public demand and we’d listen to them all day long if we could. Their album Generation Silenced, released in 2011 is one of the best albums released in recent times, go out and buy it now or get it signed from the lads at the Merchandise stand after they’ve played.
MARQUIS DRIVE
Mosborough’s favorite sons, Marquis Drive are the first name we ask to play the festival every year and when you see them you’ll know why they keep getting asked back. This 90’s Brit-pop covers band deliver a set full of hits from the likes of The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Pulp, Oasis and James. These lads put on one hell of a performance and we are delighted to have these happy Midlands chappies along again.
DOCTOR & THE MEDICS
Doctor & the Medics should need no introductions, this glam/rock band sure put on a great show. Their classic number one hit in the UK, ‘Spirit in the Sky’ is one of the best sing-a-long songs ever written. They are remembered as much for their look -- chalk-faced vocalist Clive Jackson as much as "Spirit in the Sky,” Jackson was born at Knotty Ash Hospital in Liverpool, England, on July 7, 1961. He formed Doctor & the Medics in the early 80’S, the band incorporated a gothic look and will add a quality flamboyant variance to our festival.
THE SHERLOCKS
Bolton on Deane band the Sherlocks have had a huge 2014 and 2015 looks set to see the lads push through the barriers and become a well-known name in the music scene. Formed in 2010, The Sherlocks consist of two sets of brothers, they are masters of their own self publicity and have gained a large following which are the self-named Sherlocks Army. Their single ‘Live for the moment’ reached number 92 in the UK charts. They have now performed in excess of 500 gigs.
Embracing the success of our debut EP, we have been fortunate enough to work alongside musicians such as Tom Hingley , Simon Townsend and Steve Craddock, Also providing support to bands such as Twisted Wheel, The Buzzcocks, Reverend & The Makers, The Enemy, Scouting for Girls and Simple Minds.
THE STARKINS
The Starkins were formed in 2011. This Indie/guitar pop band have over 200 gigs under their belt. Based in Sheffield but the band are from Rotherham, Doncaster and York. Catchy tunes and sing along anthems make The Starkins a great festival band and they are sure to go down well, especially with the younger festival crowd. Their You-tube views exceed over a quarter of a million hits stating just how catchy and popular the band’s sound is. Rather than dwell on dank, dreary grey skies, The Starkins’ manifesto is simple – roll back the carpet and insanely bounce up and down to a melody packed, sweaty racket and I promise you, feeling good never felt this good.
THE ASSIST
The Assist were formed in 2013 and hail from Walsall and we are delighted to have this 4 piece Indie/Guitar pop band play at MMF 2015. Like all bands that play Mosborough I’ve been to see them live and was suitable impressed. The Assist stay away from copycat stuff to do their own sound and it works, big time. Recently signed to M.A.S records and described by ‘This Feeling’ as the next big thing from Birmingham, The Assist have support slots to Happy Mondays and Reverend & the Makers behind them.
THE MONDAY CLUB
This Indie/Mod 4 piece from Sheffield were formed in 2010, we are delighted to have this top band perform at the festival. 2014 was a great year for ‘The Monday Club’ and it saw them play up and down the country, release two singles, have airplay on over 100 radio stations and have support slots with the likes of, From the Jam, The Undertones, Steve Craddock and Secret Affair. 2015 promises to be just as big for these lads.
DIRTY STERLING
Scunthorpe’s finest band come to sunny (hopefully) Sheffield and we are made up to have them. This Indie/rock and roll five piece know how to get a crowd going with big catchy songs backed by enthusiasm and energy. They were main support for Reverend & the Makers at ‘Party in the Pines’ last year which is Scunthorpe’s main festival. Dirty Sterling will be backed by around 50 Dirty Army Scunthorpe-ariens. Welcome to Mosborough lads.
THE CAROUSEL
In keeping with our tradition of supporting local bands, we are delighted to have local lads ‘The Carousel’ open Mosborough music festival 2015. This four piece alternative rock band hail from nearby Beighton and are pupils at Westfield School. With a recent support slot to the Antarctic Monkeys behind them, watch out for this bands progress as they have a big future in front of them. Listen out for a couple of excellent covers from The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys.
