Wine blogger Deniz Löktas continues his spontaneous workshops and unusual pairings in Nomad Cellars (Annankatu 22). 2 June Tuesday evening, we will be discussing cheese and traditional and possible new beverage pairings, a very fun battle between wine and beer.

"The European (French) tradition is calling for wine when the cheese is on the table. Yes, I love it. Depending on the cheese type, mostly acidic white wines are really good pairing with cheese. True. But the carbonization effect of the beer might make beer a perfect match too, when we talk about food&beverage pairing, we are actually talking about the effects and aroma profiles rather than a specific type of food or beverage. So basically we are looking for washing down the salt and fat of the cheese so we need acidity or carbonization. So, could beer match well with cheese? I really think so. I think it will be very good. BUT! I might be wrong. Join us to figure out.

I think it is time to favor Finnish cheese producers and we already tasted the beers of our lovely Fat Lizards Tuomas&Heikki and I am sure the aroma profiles of their beers will put a smile on our face. Anything that puts a smile on the face is worth to try." Deniz

We are setting our event together with the local brewery Fat Lizard Brewing Co. and we all expect to be Fat Lizards on Tuesday evening. This is a spontaneous workshop, a spontaneous exploration and a fun dinner at our big table in Nomad Cellars.

After Deniz's presentation, Heikki&Tuomas will introduce their beers and three types of Finnish cheeses will be served with Finnish beers, two of the amazing products of Fat Lizard and we will have two different wines. There will be of course bread, palate cleansers, jams and other condiments.
