The Impellers

The Impellers are a 10 piece powerhouse, bringing pounding instrumental tracks, lyrically strong vocal tracks and, new for the 2nd album, a sweet, sweet ballad. New recordings on the powerhouse labels that are Mocambo Records and Legere Recordings bring together influences including soul, deep funk, latin and afrobeats, hip hop production, and includes funk re-versions of instantly recognisable tracks by Kaiser Chiefs and The Ting Tings.

The band features screaming Hammond organ, true soul vocals, chicken-scratch guitars, huge horns and a rhythm section producing more energy than a Dutch wind farm

Bison Theory

It would be foolish to think this hasn't been an idea floating around for a while but when Jonny Steele from The Scribes dropped his debut solo album at the beginning of 2014 things started to take shape.

Opting to showcase his new live show for Freeze Peach in February of that year, Jonny decided it would be more fun to do this with friends...So why not pull together a 9 piece band, get them to learn your album in 10 days and arrange a few guest appearances?

Made up of some of the more familiar faces from round the way, Bison Theory features members of: The Scribes, The Snare, OneSoul, Heroine/Hero, Papa Maché, Contraband Sessions plus Charlotte Coupland and UK IDA Champion; Table Turnsmore. Within months they were supporting the likes of Expansion Sound (Dilated Peoples), Abdominal and Deadly Hunter in some of Bristol's premier venues.

But the Bison Theory didn't stop there, it grew, it developed its own sound, it consumed all that stood in its way, and most importantly it knew how to groove. If you like music you like Bison Theory.
