The Anglo-American duo of James Hickman and Dan Cassidy formed in 2008 with several successful local shows in Shrewsbury, the hometown of James Hickman, and the surrounding County of Shropshire. Their successful tours have grown steadily in size such that they now perform throughout the UK each year.
The emotive souring vocals and driving guitar of James Hickman is complemented by the ingenious and virtuosic fiddling of Dan Cassidy, who is the Brother of the late-lamented, Eva Cassidy, Singer of many classic ballads.
The sound of the duo flows from the connection between British and American Folk music and bursts with the humour, heartbreak and excitement of these genres. The lively English wit of Hickman is set against the bone dry irony and American drawl of Dan Cassidy as the duo take audiences on an unforgettable transatlantic journey.
The debut album of the duo featured arrangements of American and British traditional songs and tunes but their performances now incorporate many of their own compositions.
