Happy New Year to you all. It's shaping up to be another great year at Montrose Folk Club and it kicks off with Beppe Gambetta.

Beppe Gambetta will be appearing at Montrose Folk Club immediately after a Duo concert on the previous evening with fellow guitar virtuoso Tony McManus at Celtic Connections in Glasgow. He frequently performs joint Concerts with Tony, who played at Montrose Folk Club in February 2015. Beppe and Tony went head-to-head on their superb 2015 album, Round Trip, uniting their dazzling technique and richly expressive musicianship across Scottish, Irish, American, Latin and Pan-European material, together with original compositions – a synergy thrillingly redoubled in their live performances.

An acoustic guitar flatpicker and singer, still resident in Genoa, Italy, his City of Birth, Beppe Gambetta has been described as a “virtual United Nations of influences, Italian, Ukrainian, Bluegrass, Celtic and Sardinian.

From his unique background as an Italian musician in love with both American roots music, as well as the music of his native Country, Beppe Gambetta has travelled the world, touring in North America at least 4 times each year. After 11 CDs and collaborations with many other top-flight musicians, Beppe Gambetta is increasingly known as one of the true current master innovators of the acoustic guitar.
