Art is a powerful means of education, especially about the Holocaust, an event that can’t be comprehended by intellectual means.
Son of Saul, a Hungarian film and Academy Award Winner for Best Foreign Language Film, is a dark portrayal of Auschwitz from the perspective of a Sonderkommando (a Jewish prisoner tasked primarily with burning the bodies of the dead). Hillel Waterloo is proud to screen such an important and difficult work of art that can help us understand the Holocaust in new and meaningful ways.
CONTENT WARNING: Graphic violence, nudity, scenes depicting Jewish death, and generally unsettling subject matter.
