"When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It's to enjoy each step along the way."
Join us Saturday November 4 for the next BC Swing Dance Club lesson and dance. Please share this event invitation with your Facebook friends.
In 1997, the North West Swing Dance Club was formed and held their first dance was held November 11 of that year. Now, 20 years later, the BC Swing Dance Club (so renamed in 2006) will celebrate 2 decades of West Coast Swing dancing in the lower mainland. In addition to our usual workshops and social dance we will host a pot luck so please bring your favourite dish to share.
Elizabeth Hudgins will be teaching WCS "flashback moves" workshop. Elizabeth is an accomplished dancer and teacher. With her husband Graeme Oxendale, she has run the successful Urban Beat Dance Company in Vancouver BC since 1999, bringing dance to life for thousands of people in Vancouver. She has been dancing for 25 years and has over 15 years of experience teaching several dance styles including Argentine Tango, West Coast Swing, Salsa, Hip Hop, and Country Two-Step. She has training in jazz, ballet, and modern which provide basic knowledge of movement and technique but her real passion is for social dancing. Her training in so many styles of dance gives her a solid foundation in the technique and art of social dance. Elizabeth’s dancing has been seen on City TV, Urban Rush, CBC and the Life Network.
Michael and Amy Shibasaki will be teaching the free beginner class. Their story began in 2008 when they met at a west coast swing dance and decided to become practice partners to improve their dancing. Along the way, Michael and Amy fell in love and got married. Now they want to share our love of the dance with you – by offering you a friendly, relaxed learning environment to get you comfortable enough to have lots of fun on the dance floor. Both currently compete several times a year (at Advanced and Intermediate level) and continuously look to upgrade and hone their teaching and dance skills.
