“I was alone, I took a ride, I didn’t know what I would find there,” sang Paul McCartney in 1966.
50 years later, what he would find is The Beatles’ work revered as a defining cultural phenomenon of the 20th Century, and being revitalized by two cabaret titans – Barb Jungr and John McDaniel, performing as a double act. 21st Century austerity demands that the Fab Four has been transmuted into a terrific twosome, in which Barb’s unique reinterpretive skills and John’s stunning and surprising arrangements allow them to deliver some of the most sublime and beloved songs ever written. It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it. Based on their 2016 album of the same name, Come Together was shortlisted as one of the Best Duo Shows of 2015 by broadwayworld.com, and Barb and John were shortlisted as the best Vocal Duo or Group by the MAC Awards in 2016. The show was described by The New York Times as “thrilling”, a word which can be applied to Barb’s harmonica playing alone. Possibly. A joyous and unmissable coming together.
