The alias of electronic disc jockey and producer Angus Murphy, Amastro has a signature smooth style that his production has been known for. The 22-year-old Canberrian grew up in a musical family, teaching himself how to play a vast array of musical instruments from a very young age. Originally, Murphy was an acoustic artist playing with bands and performing all over ACT. It wasn't until the young artist sat next to Alison Wonderland on the plane on the way to Your Paradise, a music festival in Fiji where she showed him multiple sessions on Abelton, which then inspired young Amastro to shift genres completely. He became heavily infatuated with the Australian sound and became influenced from Australia's very best from the likes of Hermitude, Flume and Safia.
This fresh face released his first single in May 2015, 'Gods Of This Time Frame Featuring. Christo Alexander' on Soundcloud and hit the number one spot on the Triple J Unearthed Charts. In 2016, he released his first EP then months later, he sold out his first ever live show for the EP launch in Sydney. With another two single releases, "Bloodshot Heart" reaching 90k and "At The Tone" reaching 110k on Spotify, Amastro embarked on his first ever national Australian tour playing shows across the country.
Under the guise of Amastro, he has had countless opportunities after just one year, such as playing Splendour In The Grass in Byron Bay two years in a row, marking his first dynamic foray into the electronic music scene. Amastro has played stages all around Australia including Party In The Paddock in Tassie, supporting Tash Sultana at Courtyard Live, playing a show to his home crowd at Canberra's Groovin In The Moo and his first international show at Your Paradise Fiji alongside the world's best such as Skrillex, Slumberjack, What So Not & Anna Lunoe. He has had countless opportunities supporting major Australian acts such as Paces, LDRU, Sticky Fingers, Indian Summer, Yahztel, Boo Seeka & Nina Las Vegas.
