Party: Roesy - "Wolf Counsel" Album Tour - Adm. €10

Affectionately nicknamed ‘Roesy’ by an adolescent brotherhood, he and his small platoon of cohorts sculptured their craft as songwriters, poets and performers in living rooms and bars along the streets of Birr, County Offaly in Ireland’s heartland. Now cradled deep in the the Dandenong Ranges which flank Melbourne, Australia, Roesy is set to release his most astonishing work to date, his 7th album ‘Wolf Counsel’.

Roesy stands tall among his contemporaries without equivocation, a signatory to the strong arm of music publishing Warner Chappell and Wardlaw Banks, and working with names such as Bernard Banks (ex Suede guitarist) this period was a seg-way to award nominations such as ‘Best New Irish Act,’ 2004 Meteor Awards, and the Traditional/Folk category, 2005 Hot Press Awards.

Many of the names we regard as the worlds elite have considered Roesy worthy of allocation. Among them Bert Jansch, Ron Sexsmith, Paul Brady, Billy Bragg, John Martyn, Joan Armatrading, Davy Spillane, Donovan, Shane MacGowan, Paul Kelly plus celebrated Irish author Paul Durcan.

Twenty fourteen has also reignited an old collaboration for Roesy as one of Irelands greats, Declan O’Rouke toured Australia. Roesy and Declan recorded ‘In You Come’ an old song they had written together as much younger men, a beautiful and spine chilling number which will feature on ‘Wolf Counsel’.

Roesy’s melodies have the presence to seem familiar while remaining distinctly his own; impossible to ignore or dismiss. The deceptive simplicity of his lyrical themes reveals their latent complexities upon repeated listening. Many contain references to the eternal subjects of Truth, Beauty and the search for the luminous and transcendent in the midst of everyday living.
