Three is the magic number !
It's the Too Fly 3rd Birthday party spectacular, and to celebrate we decided to invite back one of our favorite guests from the past 3 years. Mr Orin Walters aka Afronaut from Bugz in the attic. He played an absoloute blinding set to a packed out HiFi back where it all began in 2013, so we were truly buzzing when he accepted our invitation.
Then we thought what the hell its our birthday lets go crazy, so we called another one of our favorite guests, Mr Phil Asher from Restless soul records. He also said he was up for getting involved and that coincedently he'd been talking about Too Fly a few day before so we took that as a good omen.
It then turns out these guys are actually good friends and have history together. Both Hailing from West London, Phil & Orin's influence on House Music and Broken Beat is almost incomparable to anyone else in the country. With a career spanning more than 20 years apiece, the pair began their production outings together as ’Blak ‘n’ Spanish’ in 1995, pre-empting the UK Garage sound, influenced by the heavyweight dubs of US House producers such as Masters at Work, Spen and Karizma.
The result led them into a much rawer UK sound, incorporating, Soul, Reggae, Hip Hop and Jazz, which still runs through their music today, albeit usually through the medium of House Music. Underground followers will know many of the club anthems both have produced over the years, with Phil doing remixes of Earth Wind and Fire, Blaze and Jamiroquai to name a few.
As Afronaught and as part of Bugz In The Attic, Orin can be considered to have contributed to a few of the biggest dance records of the 00’s with ‘Transcend Me’, ‘Booty La La’ and remixes such as Amy Winehouse’s ‘In My Bed’ and 4 Hero’s ‘Hold It Down’.
The Party starts at 11pm with the man like Dr Bert aka Robbie B warming up the subs with some killer dubs. Then at the stroke of midnight we hand over to the West london dons for a musical feast of the higest order.
We hope you can join us !
