Growing up in a musical home with a piano teacher mum and a jazzholic dad meant Hilit Kolet was having rhythm for breakfast and melodies for lunch. She could play the piano before she could tie her shoes, and when she wasn’t down at the conservatoire for music literature classes or playing with the local orchestra, she would make some noise with her feet - and tap dance.
Not much has changed since. Music is still her passion in life - but she did swap the piano for a mixer and beat making, and tap dancing for full-on samba (catch her performing at the Notting Hill Carnival parade), whilst her career highlights include securing a slot as a prime time radio DJ on the Israeli Radio 1, presenting dance music shows on TV and founding & editing the Israeli DJ Magazine, amongst others.
Since moving to London, Hilit has been working as an interactive producer for MTV and as a content marketing manager for BM Soho (aka Black Market Records), where she still produces numerous events and parties headlined by Derrick Carter, Andrew Weatherall, Kerri Chandler, Moodymann, Louie Vega, Mark Farina, Karizma, Scott Grooves, Floating Points, Ben UFO, Phil Asher, Brothers Vibe, Cassio Ware, Trinidadian Deep, Sandwell District, Osunlade, Atjazz, Ron Trent, Todd Terry, Jimpster, Giles Smith and many others.
Collecting records since forever, Hilit's musical wonderland and DJ sets are drifting between the groovy districts of disco, house, bass and techno. Nu or vintage, classic or fresh - if it swings, shakes, bounces or simply gets down, she’s most definitly in there, slaving to the rhythm behind the decks and sweeping everyone off their feet and on the dancefloor along the way.
